JENS Peter Gundjonsson Iceland silver brutalist Pendant

Bearing the signature of Jens Peter Clausen Gudjonsson of Iceland, this hand-made sterling silver vermeil pendant is characteristic of the brutalist jewelry its maker is known for. Generous in size and very interesting visually, with folds and ripples and creases in its hefty body, the pendant features a tumbled light bluish grey stone that seems to have been forced into its raised bezel. The stone registers in the iolite area of my gem tester but I cannot say with certainty whether this is indeed the case. What I can say, however, is that I love the size and contorted beauty of this piece and the way the gilding has worn off in the raised areas and mellowed over time. A rare find for the lover of Scandinavian jewelry and all those fascinated by brutalist design...
