Long lariat necklace with their luxurious tassels and their thick twist-rope chains were a beloved form for the Mexican maestros. One can find examples from the Deco years well into the post-1980 period. The example at hand dates from the latter yet is signed by a Taxco silversmith who was active - and making lariats - in the previous period as well (1948-1980). Of medium thickness the woven chain glistens and can be worn in every imaginable way. The tassels add just the right amount of playfulness and luxury. Silver perfection…

Size / Weight: 40” long (end-to-end); tassels are 1 1/2” and the chain has a width of 1/4”; 70.5 grams

Hallmarks / Date: maker’s registration code “TM-48” as well as initials “CMS” and “MEXICO TAXCO”, “925”; 1980s

Condition: excellent vintage, glistening happily when the light hits it, having great length, with no damage and no repairs noted
