Mexican Deco silver and turquoise Scottie dog Pin / Pendant

$98.00

At the height of their popularity in the 1940s, scottie dogs were a beloved motif for the jewelry industry, and thousands of pieces were made worldwide in all combinations of materials and for all budgets. Particulary suited as a brooch design, they would sometimes also double as pendants, like the Mexican Deco example I am presenting here. Executed in silver en repoussage, this doggie is full of life, absolutely certain about where it wants to go, with beautiful detail in its beard, around the neck and its tail. And can you believe that turquoise beadie eye?

PS: The chain shown in some of the photos is for display purposes only and not included in your purchase (it is, however, available as a separate purchase - just ask!)

Size / Weight: 1 7/8” long by 1 3/4” tall; 6.9 grams

Hallmarks / Date: “SILVER MEXICO”; 1940s

Condition: excellent vintage with nicely executed repousse, good size, warmly gleaming patina and a vibrant turquoise cab, with no damage and no repairs noted

Inv# 15506
