Mexican Deco silver and "peacock" abalone Necklace

$0.00
SOLD

A series of s-shaped sterling links with “peacock” abalone inlay and beading accents at either end comprises this colorful, eye-catching Mexican Deco necklace. Originally a Los Castillo design, if I am not mistaken, the version at hand was crafted by a Taxco maestro who chose to remain anonymous. Yet anonymity did not deprive this beauty of anything else - the finishing is good, the shell shimmers in all the colors of the rainbow, and the links are riveted together in the back, a technique used in higher quality jewelry…

PS: As you can see in one of the photos, the matching bracelet is also available and will be offered shortly - if you don’t see it on the site, please ask!

Size / Weight: 16” long (wearable; 16 1/2” end-to-end; can easily accept a simple extension to lengthen it); 7/8” wide; 81.1 grams

Hallmarks / Date: “STERLING TAXCO”; pre-1948

Condition: excellent vintage with beautiful metallic shimmer in the abalone, great patina and good finishing; no damage and no repairs noted except for a tiny little pop in the shell inlay of the link that holds the clasp’s hook
