Based on Matilde Poulat’s “serpent scales” design the repousse silver brooch at hand was crafted in Mexico City in the Deco period, when the renowned maestra was active. This is one of the best renditions of the specific motif I have seen - not just in terms of craftsmanship but size as well. The silver has an inner glow that contrasts vividly with the design’s darkened recesses while the green hue of the turquoise cab adds a splash of soothing, fresh color.
