Mexican silver Necklace with sterling-caged hardstones

$0.00
SOLD

It's been a long time since I last offered a vintage Mexican necklace with various tumbled hard-stones caged in sterling silver. This form seems to have been at the height of its popularity in the 1950s-70s though I have found examples from the Deco years as well. Truth be told, it continued to be produced in the post-1980 period as well but I consider the newer versions not as carefully crafted nor with the same quality of materials. What I find exceptional in the case of the necklace at hand is its combination of polished and unpolished tumbled stones and its leaning toward the warmer, more earthy tones of the color palette...

Size / Weight: 34 3/4" long; approx. 3/4" wide; 125.6 grams

Hallmarks / Date: maker's initials "CJC" as well as "TAXCO STERLING 925" and Eagle 3 assay mark; 1950s-70s

Condition: excellent vintage with beautiful, deep patina in the sterling, unusual, warm, earthy colored stones, with no damage and no repairs noted though I would like to mention a tiny little pop in one of the amethysts - not readily visible and very very difficult to spot so not affecting presentation at all
