Masterful figural repoussage portraying ancient gods and demons as well as luscious flowers in full bloom decorate this old silver bracelet which came to me as a mystery treasure. Not signed for maker or origin nor hallmarked for metal quality, it posed one of those welcome challenges every vintage jewelry dealer faces - to research and try to identify what a specific item is. The road of my inquiries leads me to suggest that this is probably a Cambodian bracelet - the workmanship and motifs are very similar to Khmer jewelry that I have found in books and online. I will finish by calling your attention to the complexity of the figural decoration, the various techniques used, the careful hand-work that is further accentuated by purposefully applied oxidation. Size / Weight: 6 3/8" inner circumference (clasped; perfect for smaller to medium wrists); width between 1 1/4" and 7/8"; 31.5 grams

Hallmarks / Date: not marked for maker nor hallmarked for metal quality but tested and guaranteed to be solid silver of at least .900 purity (it seems to have been the standard for older Cambodian silver-work); difficult for me to date with accuracy but I would suggest first decades of 20th c.

Condition: very good vintage with stunning repoussage and eye-catching figural decoration, fantastic patina and its oxidation in great shape; there are a couple of very shallow impressions in the upper and lower edges of the central link that do not really detract from the bracelet's beauty; I would also like to mention that some of the seams between the front and back sheets forming the links have short, tight openings - they are very stable and don't compromise the piece's integrity, only visible upon close inspection and not noticeable when you have the bracelet on but I wanted to report their existence
