Pedro Castillo Mexican silver overlay Bracelet

Bearing the signature of Pedro Castillo this bracelet is, for me, a fusion of classic Taxco "arhaeological" as well as modernist elements. The overlay is immaculately crafted - one would never expect less from a Castillo - and the design lends itself to several readings. Is it a stylized butterfly? Two human forms positioned sideways, mirroring each other? An elaboration on ancient Mesoamerican motifs with a mod twist? Be that as it may, the bracelet has an intense visual presence that is only enhanced by the patina of time which, in turn, underscores the original oxidation...

Size / Weight: 7" long (wearable) by 1 5/16" wide; 48.9 grams

Hallmarks / Date: maker's combined initials "CP" as shown as well as "HECHO EN MEXICO TAXCO" and "STERLING"; pre-1948

Condition: excellent vintage with rich detail, very graphic design, great patina and no damage or repairs noted - I just want to mention that when unclasping, one has to "play" a bit with the "tongue" part in order to find the right alignment so as to easily pull it out of the "box"
