Sigi Pineda modernist silver and obsidian Bracelet

$0.00
SOLD

Housing a polished obsidian cabochon with warm, shimmering golden depths this vintage Mexican silver bracelet bears the signature of Sigi Pineda, one of Taxco’s foremost modernist designers. A prolific creator, Sigi was at his best when he worked within the confines of minimalism - the bracelet presented here, a hinged bangle, is just such an example. The idea of “less-is-more” is perfectly expressed in the lean yet fluid lines of the silver-work while the playfulness of the volcanic glass surprises and entertains the eye…

Size / Weight: 6 1/2” inner circumference; width between 1” at center front and 1/2” at its narrowest; 59.1 grams

Hallmarks / Date: fully signed with Sigi’s name as shown as well as “HECHO EN MEXICO STERLING” and des. no 190 (?) alongside a badly stamped Eagle assay mark; 1950s-60s

Condition: excellent vintage with a beautiful piece of golden sheen obsidian, nice patina and no damage or repairs noted

Inv# 15302
