substantial Mexican Deco silver and carved amethyst "mask" Ring

$0.00
SOLD

I am fascinating by Mexican “mask” jewelry and I think my weakness is well illustrated by the pieces featured on my site. There is something primordially powerful about those “portraits” carved in semi-precious stones, hard-stones and often molded in clay. And when they come in ring form, I find them irresistible. Like the piece at hand with its massive silver setting that mimicks a warrior’s helmet protecting an equally big amethyst “mask”. If impressive is the goal, look no further…

Size / Weight: sz 8.75 US (easily resizable by your jeweler); face is 1 1/4” N-S by approx. 7/8” E-W; 7/16” rise; 22.4 grams

Hallmarks / Date: not signed for maker yet nor hallmarked for metal quality yet tested and guaranteed to be sterling silver; pre-1948

Condition: excellent vintage with imposing presence, visually strong silver-work, a big, nicely carved amethyst “mask” and no damage or repairs noted except for a very small area of roughness in the figure’s upper lip - almost invisible to the naked eye and thus not affecting presentation at all
