Topazio Portuguese silver "harvest" hinged Bracelet

$255.00

Vintage Topazio Portuguese sterling silver hinged bangle bracelet in a classic for the genre "harvest calendar" design in which different months of the year are illustrated by either a flower, fruit or other staple that characterizes them. I love these bracelets for their representation of the cyclical nature of time and their allusion to earlier decades when the availability of food depended on one's location and the specific season. In the example at hand the figural decoration is distinct and crisp in its detail with the flowers, fruit and sheaves of cereals pushing out from the background as if in an attempt to come to life. I would also like to draw your attention to the panel with the urn brimming with flowers and what seems to be very discreet traces of vermeil in the recesses...

Size / Weight: 7" inner circumference (clasped) by 11/16" wide (just shy of 3/4"); 29.0 grams

Hallmarks / Date: maker's signature as shown as well as "PORTUGAL" and hallmarks for metal purity and date; the former is not easily readable but I will suggest at least .833 if not sterling; 1940s-50s

Condition: excellent vintage with crisp, sculptural floral, fruit and foliate motifs, having nice patina, with no damage nor any repairs noted - perfect to wear alone or stack with similar pieces
